How to Use the App
Teachers and Students: Getting Started
- There are two versions of the app in the app store: one for teachers and one for students. The teacher should download the teacher version and each student should download the student version on his/her device.
- When the teacher downloads the app, he/she receives a room number.
- The teacher should tell the students the room number so that they can "enter the classroom". On their home screen, students have a place to enter the room number.
- Students then wait for the teacher to begin the activity.
Teachers: How to Create a Quiz
- Step 1: From the home screen, teachers have a number of options for what kinds of quizzes they want to make. First, they could choose to do a single-question quiz (in the "Single Question Activities" section), and ask the question orally. This could be in the format of multiple choice, true false, or short answer. Students will answer the question via their mobile devices.
- Step 2: Or, teachers could run a pre-made quiz. In order to make a quiz, the teacher should go to the section titled "Manage Quizzes". Here they can create, edit, and delete quizzes or races.
- Step 3: Teachers then select "Create a Quiz or "Import Quiz". If they select "Import Quiz", they can import saved quizzes made my other teachers who use Socrative.
- Step 4: Or, teachers select "Create a Quiz". To create a quiz, teachers first title the quiz, they can select "Enable Sharing" to share with other teachers, and then they can create questions one by one. Each question can be a different format (multiple choice/short answer/true-false). For multiple choice and true/false questions, teachers write the question and up to five answer choices. The teacher must make sure to "check" the box next to the answer that is correct.
- Step 5: Once the quiz is created, the teacher clicks "save".

Teachers: Running a Quiz
- Step 1: From the home screen, teachers can select "Start Quiz".
- Step 2: The teacher must select the title of the quiz they want from the drop down menu. Then, the teacher can choose whether they want the quiz to be student paced or teacher paced (students cannot move onto the next question until the teacher says so.) From the "Advanced Quiz Options" menu, teachers can randomize the answer choices, disable immediate right/wrong feedback, or hide question explanations.
- Step 3: Once the teacher clicks the pacing of the quiz they want, the quiz begins. The teacher waits for all students to complete the quiz.

Students: Taking a Quiz
- Step 1: When the teacher starts the quiz, the questions appear on the students' screens. The first question always asks the students to enter their name.
- Step 2: The student completes the questions at the pace the teacher set. When the student chooses an answer to a question, an additional box that says "next question" will pop up, prompting the student to proceed.
- Step 3: When a student answers the question correctly, it can tell the student that they were correct (if the teacher used that setting), then prompts them to answer the next question.
- Step 4: If a student answers incorrectly, the app will show students the correct answer (if the teacher chose that setting).
- Step 5: The app then tells students when they are finished with the quiz.
